A substantial divide persists between women and men and between girls and boys in Internet access and use. The latest estimates from the ITU suggest that women globally are 12% less likely than men to have Internet access. Addressing the gender digital divide is crucial to ensuring sustainability of women’s livelihood. This is particularly the case during crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, when connectivity is key. At times like this, we need to emphasize the importance of digital access for women.
During this webinar, we explore the current pandemic through a gender lens to understand how the economic downturn will likely aggravate existing gender inequalities; we examine this specifically in the gender digital divide and education sphere.
