seamless MPLS-based network will connect 1,500 sites in 90 countries on 5 continents
Siemens AG, a global powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering, has awarded Orange Business a contract extension and expansion for a global Wide Area Network (WAN) connecting 1,500 sites in 90 countries. The performance of its communications infrastructure will enable Siemens to take full advantage of cloud services and applications, voice over IP and telepresence, and to improve the support of its business processes.
As part of the network expansion, Orange Business will migrate 470 sites in 26 countries in addition to the existing 1,030 sites in 69 countries that have been managed for Siemens since 2009. This additional consolidation will further reduce complexity and boost network performance and agility.
“As a globally operating company with offices all over the world, we need a reliable and sustainable communication network that is a critical business enabler and can evolve with our business,” said Dr. Norbert Kleinjohann, CIO of Siemens. “We chose Orange Business because of their ability to deliver seamless Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network coverage worldwide in combination with high security standards, quality of service, local support and an attractive price-performance ratio. We also appreciate their flexibility and good cooperation. Orange Business is a trusted partner to Siemens over the past several years.”
Over time, demands on the Siemens WAN have increased with virtual teams and teleworkers collaborating on projects around the globe. Orange Business can meet the customer’s evolving needs by combining proven and next-generation technology with a cost-effective and innovative service portfolio, including cloud- and Web-based services and solutions. Additionally, with a dedicated single point of contact service desk and local presence in 166 countries, Orange Business ensures that Siemens receives premium managed network services in the 90 countries it operates based on a global-local governance established with the customer.
“We are pleased to have been chosen by Siemens to migrate 470 additional sites and to continue to manage its critical global communications infrastructure,” said Dr. Helmut Reisinger, senior vice president, Orange Business Europe, Russia & CIS. “As a company with a pioneering role in terms of technology, Siemens set high benchmarks for this project. Combining an innovative solution approach with specialization in providing robust seamless network services on a global level, Orange Business has the expertise to efficiently implement and manage projects of this scale including all areas in fast growing emerging markets.
