Google Apps & unified communications: an opportunity for integration?

I’m seeing numerous customers making the move to Google apps. One such customer is currently deploying Business Together as a Service using Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS), and they have been afforded an opportunity to work with a solution from ESNA to integrate these two powerhouses!

ESNA provides a Cisco Jabber SDK (Service Development Kit) client inside the Chrome browser that will link back over to Google applications via the ESNA Cloudlink 4.0 server.

What this means  for a customer is that they can make the decision to go Google for many of their desktop applications, but also work with the Jabber client for  IM, presence, voice and video.

The integrator space has been working on such integrations between Microsoft and Cisco products for some time now.  But, with Google now making a push into enterprise – and even government – business I have a feeling this will become much more a topic of conversation that it has been to date.

If you have experience integrating Google apps with Cisco technology, can you share your experience?  What are some of the challenges you’ve encountered, and do you have any advice for others venturing into the same territory?

Thanks!
