Information Week published an interesting discussion about cloud computing by Vanessa Alvarez, an ICT analyst at Frost & Sullivan North America, who argued that "often, the human element of cloud computing is left out of the broader discussion".
There has been much debate on the benefits of cloud computing -- a recent article by Computer Weekly reported that some users were paying one-tenth of the amount they would to deliver the same amount of computing power-in house, with the flexibility offered also trumpeted. But much of the discussion has indeed centred on the technology benefits on offer, with security the main concern, while other changes resulting from the new operating model have been largely ignored.
Alvarez noted that "the relationships among IT, finance, accounting, and other business units will become much more fluid, stemming from the on-demand and flexible nature of the new IT environment".
