Haier integrates CCR acquisition into its global IT infrastructure

Standardize and streamline solutions to elevate the user experience

Haier Smart Home Co, which develops, manufactures, and sells household electrical appliances and smart home solutions, completed its acquisition of Carrier Commercial Refrigeration (CCR) from Carrier Global Corporation in 2024.

The technologies related to commercial refrigeration that CCR owns or is licensed to use will help to reduce CO2 emissions, contributing to environmental improvement for Haier and promoting green transformation. It will also enhance the multinational’s strategic positioning in the global commercial refrigeration market.

CCR’s 4,000 employees, including over 2,000 service technicians based in more than 20 countries, all needed to be integrated into the Haier family.

Haier has made numerous acquisitions in recent years and has encountered integration hurdles. To ensure standardization and enhance the user experience, it wanted to ensure that CCR was integrated into its IT infrastructure effectively by working with a trusted partner that could provide an effective overarching integration strategy. This included developing a long-term IT globalization strategy based on a centralized and unified platform to support digitally driven efficiencies and innovation.

A trusted partner to ensure a smooth migration

Walk in and take over approach for smooth migration

Both Haier and CCR have relatively small IT teams, making it challenging to manage global operations independently. Haier wanted to work with a trusted partner who could take over operations and ensure a smooth migration, leaving internal teams to focus on business-related tasks. Orange Business won the business from the incumbent based on its competitive solution proposal, integration, and management capabilities, which included overarching project management and consultancy.

The Orange Business walk-in and takeover approach to migration ensured that the integration and service management practices were embedded from the onset of the Haier migration.

Orange Business won this customer back from its main competitor. It took over CCR’s existing infrastructure from the incumbent, integrated it, and upgraded solutions where required. It also prepared the groundwork for future transformation and carried out project management as part of Haier’s IT globalization roadmap.

Evolution Platform adopted as part of Haier’s IT globalization roadmap

Haier’s first step in adopting the Evolution Platform as part of its transformation plans is to use the Virtual Network Function as a Service (VNFaaS). This allows users to access virtualized network applications on a cloud infrastructure.

Haier’s first step in adopting the Evolution Platform as part of its transformation plans is to use the Virtual Network Function as a Service (VNFaaS). This allows users to access virtualized network applications on a cloud infrastructure.

VNFaaS on Evolution Platform has been designed to simplify the delivery of digital infrastructure services. It also offers high visibility on processes to improve business performance. This innovative approach enabled an interconnection gateway to be established between CCR and Haier’s networks in just one week.

Flexible SD-WAN provides WAN connectivity for Haier. It is an agile, secure, and scalable solution with intelligent traffic management and cloud integration. It enables businesses to connect to multiple clouds and locations around the world.

The Service Desk and Customer Service Manager provide global coverage to support local languages, enabling effective collaboration across service teams located in France, Egypt, India, and China. This provides the multinational with a single point of contact to support global solution performance and continuous improvements aligned to business outcomes.

On the service side, detailed project planning ensured timely delivery and reduced migration risk.

Seamless and secure connections

Secure, high-performance cloud connectivity was unlocked via Business VPN Galerie, seamlessly bridging private networks and cloud service providers.

The migration portfolio includes Business VPN Galerie, an MPLS-based VPN solution that allows users to access cloud service providers from private MPLS networks while retaining existing access methods and corporate security policies. It provides a direct link to cloud services, which can enhance security and performance.

Zscaler Web Protection Suite protects the organization from cyber threats. It includes internet and web security, antivirus, and vulnerability management. A managed firewall continuously monitors the network for malicious threats and mitigates any found.

The integration of these two solutions enables Haier to benefit from private MPLS connectivity and advanced cloud-delivery security.

Smooth migration to a secure and flexible infrastructure

The comprehensively managed solutions portfolio Orange Business has provided has enabled Haier to integrate CCR quickly, securely, and seamlessly. It has also paved the way for further adoption of Evolution Platform as part of the multinational’s IT globalization strategy.

A strong consulting approach, including presenting the customer with multiple migrations and transition options and conducting cost and impact analyses, ensured a timely and efficient transformation.

Evolution Platform’s modular, scalable design provides Haier with a unified solution to manage the complexities of global connectivity, multi-cloud environments, and security. By leveraging its innovative capabilities, the multinational can reduce costs, improve performance, and address the digital demands of strategic growth.
